Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical hypnosis involves working with a responsible, caring psychologist, counselor or physician who has been trained to treat problems or disorders by other means, and who utilizes hypnosis in order to be more helpful and effective with you the client, and your unique and individual needs. It is necessary to have a good working relationship, where trust and rapport have been developed with the practitioner before beginning this work.

Clinical hypnosis has a variety of useful applications in the therapeutic setting.  Habits and physical complaints, such as Migraines, insomnia, anxiety, high blood pressure, asthma, and nail-biting and smoking have all responded to hypnotherapy. The most important work of hypnosis in the counseling environment however, is to relive incidents from the past with detail and clarity.  This information and recall can help you to "let go" of symptoms and behaviors that are inhibiting your daily life, or causing problems.

Hypnosis works because it enables us to screen out external stimuli while maintaining a focused concentration on the subject matter, while remaining in a very relaxed physical state.
Hypnotic-like experiences occur frequently in every day life, while daydreaming or losing one's self in a movie or book.

There are various levels of trance ranging from light to deep-level.
Most of the work done in hypnosis is accomplished to light to medium hypnotic states, where the individual remembers what has taken place, and is able to process the information with the therapist after the trance has ended.
